Hope to see you there at the meeting and if you cant make it click http://www.milton.ca/en/townhall/webcasts.asp for the live link to watch.   The town of Milton has recently updated its website so some of the links might not work.  I’ll do my best to make sure it all works properly so please be patient.

4th Line Is Now Open

Just a quick note (on my Blackberry Playbook WordPress app) to announce that the temporary road closure at 4th Line near Menefly and Beaty is now open.  Its been awhile to get this work done, but its finally done.

There will be some road work done in the spring to repair some damage but at least you can go north on 4th Line to Derry Road.

Thanks to everyone for their patience.

I’ll see you at the doors.

Milton Velodrome Moving Forward with conditions

Subject to getting approvals for zoning in the area from the Region of Halton (ROPA 38) and the province of Ontario, Milton will be moving forward in constructing the velodrome facility for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am games on the Milton Education Village.  Council voted 9-2 last night in a marathon meeting to approve going ahead.

Listen to the velodrome discussion on the Scott Thompson show AM900 CHML this afternoon.

Update on 4th Line Closure

Both Sharon Barkley and I cornered staff last night (well almost like that 🙂 ) to discuss the length of time its taken to have the work completed on time.  Back in October it was only supposed to be a month closure of the road between Menefly Place and Beatty Trail and its now approaching 4 months.

Staff gave me an indication that they are “very close to completion” of the project and they have been hampered by overly wet weather, construction equipment failure among other issues and thats why its taken so long.  If you live in the area, I know your patience is wearing thin but we were given a stronger than normal indication that it should be 3 more weeks at the very most if not earlier.

Again we are continuing to monitor this situation and if anything else changes, I will be letting you know.

Thanks again for your patience in this matter.

Velodrome Public Session Last Night

On behalf of Regional Councillor Colin Best and myself, I would like to thank everyone who attended the public session on the velodrome last night.  The turnout was a lot better than many other sessions Ive held and that just goes to show people want information on the future of this endeavour.

We tried our best to provide as much up to date information as possible and answer questions of residents.  There is still some concerns we have and over the next few days I will be diving into the business plan and posting details on my site as I go through it.  Its an important decision to make and we as a council have to be fully informed before we make that decision.

If you would like to review the online version of the report (both links are about 9MB) you can check them out for some light reading 🙂
