Milton’s First Major Event in the 150th Anniversary

It was a lot of fun yesterday at the Lions Sports Park and Memorial Area with Milton’s Winterfest 2007. Hundreds of people came down for the free skate, fun events and crafts for the kids, and to see a hockey legend. Johnny Bower was quite the grand marshal for the event.

He took questions from the people who braved the cold weather highlighting some of his favourite times as an NHL goalie, what it was like to play hockey WITHOUT a goalie mask and his thoughts on which the best players in the game are today.

Kids young and not as young were in awe of the stories he had to tell (myself included) and for a guy “his age” is was in tremendous shape…looks like he could still go a few periods.   The Milton Ice Hawks, who were also in attendance signing autographs (you never know there could be a few future NHL’ers in that group) presented Johnny with a commerative Ice Hawks Jersey to thank him for coming out.

Yesterday was a lot of fun and a big thank you goes to everyone who came out to help Milton Celebrate its Roots and enjoy the Milton spirit as we continue our events for the big year.
