The next municipal election will be on MONDAY OCTOBER 25th, 2010.
In order for you to have your opportunity speak out this year, the Town of Milton has arranged for a number of advanced poll dates if you feel you wont be able to vote on election day. Normally you would be voting in November but the provincial government recently passed legislation and the changes were made official. Some of the reasoning behind the date change was to have the election during a period of Daylight Savings Time. This will ensure that while the polls are open, it wont be so dark as in previous years.
The municipal election will be held now before Halloween, usually a time period where election signs go missing, are moved or are damaged.
Below is a map of ward 6 and the locations of the polling stations on election day (Hawthorne Village PS and Guardian Angels Catholic School)

Milton is very unique this year as the traditional ward boundaries have changed from 4 wards (2 councillors per ward) to 8 wards (1 councillor per ward). For example, the 2006 election results for our ward looked like this.
RICK DAY 1292 votes
BRIAN PENMAN 1094 votes
MIKE CLUETT 1002 votes.
That election had the top two candidates become local councillors. If this election were held under the current rules, Rick Day would have been elected local councillor only.
Here is a link to the Town’s site for the map of all the new ward boundaries for you to review. There were extensive studies on ward boundary changes over the last couple of years and the results were finalized last year and will be effective for the next term of council. You can read about those studies here.
The main thing for people to realize is that who they vote for has changed and you should know your ward number. I am running for local council in ward 6 and the boundaries are: North: Derry Road – West: Thompson Road – South: Britannia Road – East: Fourth Line
