Why Mike?
To say that Milton has changed over the past few years would be an understatement. Many long time Milton residents tell me they can hardly recognize it with all the growth. As Milton continues to grow and change, there is also a need for change in how we are represented around the council table.
Over the next 4 plus years, there will be a lot of decisions facing Milton town council including the approval and phasing of the Boyne Survey that will add approximately another 55,000 residents to Milton; intensification of Main Street which can possibly change the face of downtown Milton forever; the Derry Green Corporate Business park with hundreds of new businesses coming to Milton; and the addition of a Wilfrid Laurier campus and education village.
With this growth and other areas already approved for expansion like the Milton Centre for the Arts, Milton Sports Centre expansion and the overhaul of Main Street by the railroad tracks, there will be added financial pressures on the Town of Milton. With these changes, you the taxpayer, cannot afford to be left out of the process.
Far to often I hear comments like “I didn’t know that was happening!” or “The first time I heard of that was when I read it in the local paper.”
I want YOU to be part of that process. Local government needs to be more proactive when it comes to communication. As you can see by my website, there are many ways to get in contact with me. Long gone are the days of calling, leaving a message and hoping for a response. Milton councillors need to take advantage of social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to enhance and improve the quality of communication between elected officials, and their boss….YOU the taxpayer. Here are just a few of my priorities to help secure our future in Milton … together.
Responsible Financial Management – Ratepayers like you want VALUE for their tax dollar. With the increased financial pressures on the Town of Milton due to growth, infrastructure, and possible hospital expansion, it is imperative that every dollar be spent wisely and expenses reduced wherever possible.
Neighbourhood Safety – Reduction of speed limits in residential zones, looking at other ways to control traffic such as crosswalks, traffic calming tools, radar boards and the promotion of neighbourhood watch programs.
Accountability- Your councillor needs to be accountable to YOU! I will continue to knock on doors in between election campaigns and not just during them to inform you of anything that might affect the quality of life in the town of Milton and Ward 6.

RIGHT ON MIKE! Its a tall order but it can be done. No more hiding from the voters. It takes leadership to do what youre going to do and you have my support!
Derek
Thanks for the support Derek!
I just wanted to make my initial post here and say that I genuinely appreciate what you do with your webpage. I look forward to becoming a lot more part of the community.
Heritage issues:
As we move into this next decade it is important for our past to be a part of our future. New Canadians and new Miltonians need to know their new country and home town history.
What is your platform regarding Miltons Heritage?
Where do you stand on preservation/conservation of our historic neighbourhoods, landscape and iconic buildings?
What do you see as your role as a future councillor regarding the education of our towns heritage/history to all residents
Thanks for the comment Marsha.
Protecting and preserving our heritage is vitally important to the growth of our town. All efforts must be made to ensure we keep as much history preserved in Milton as possible.
Unless we know where we have been, we wont truly know where we are going. Milton will change and thats a fact of life but we have to make sure we keep what made Milton the great town it is and will continue to be.
As a councillor I will work with town staff, the community at large and organizations like the Milton Historical Society to continue to preserve and protect Milton’s past and work towards its future.
I intend to vote for Mike. I havent heard from any other candidate yet for Ward 6 and Mike has shown a true enthusaism for making Milton a better place to live.
Im telling my friends to vote for Mike!
